Florida Family Vacation 2015

On Saturday, July 18th, we left NC early to begin our family vacation (and work conference for Jason) to Florida! We were all very excited to go on this trip that we had been planning for a few months. I think we were a little crazy to take a 9 hour road trip with a 1 year old, but we did it anyway! Well, after a few bathroom breaks, a very heavy rainstorm, and traffic, 9 hours turned into 11 hours, but we eventually made it to Kissimmee, Florida around dinner time. We stopped and ate dinner at a Perkins Restaurant--which was a BIG hit with the kids...I guess it doesn't take much to please them :) Then we drove to the hotel we'd be calling home for the next week. Everyone was tired from a long travel day and ready for bed. Connor and Parker were particularly excited to sleep in their bunk beds, which were sectioned off in their own private area that included a TV--they thought that was pretty cool! Spencer slept in his playpen, which he had been practicing sleeping in at home, so that it would be familiar to him. I think he was just happy to be out of his car seat!

On Sunday, we went to church with Jason's step-uncle Jeff and his family. Their small branch meets in an elementary school, which was a very unique experience for us. It was great for the kids to see that even though we were somewhere different than home and meeting in a school, the same gospel principles were taught, the same hymns and Primary songs were sung, and the Spirit was also there. After church, we went back to Jeff's home for a delicious dinner (thanks, Kathy!). We enjoyed spending time with them even though it was brief.

Jason had to be at the first session of his work conference that evening, so the kids and I just rested and relaxed at the hotel.
